You won't get a true LED Monitor, they are too expensive. The LED even in Monitors currently are LED lit, but still have LCD driving them...well, that's what I was told not long ago.

thanks Razorbak86 for the PA info

also thanks Myk SilentShadow for the lcd-led info... i could also get an lcd, but what i really want is a monitor with high resolution like 1920 and supports 3d. A monitor that will be good for gaming and autocad or adobe photoshop

Try going through the website:

http://www.asus.com/Display/

'LCD monitor' is the basic range
'IPS monitors' are better color
VG are gaming models - 120/144Hz/3D
ML/MS are designo series - upcoming edge-to-edge design soon.
LS is budget
PA/PB are ProArt/ProBusiness with very high quality IPS/PVA for deep color

LED (light emitting diode) specifically is a backlight technology. It lights the LCD (liquid crystal display) in front of it, which displays the picture.

There are four major panel types (this is a rough overview only):
TN - 6-bit, very fast, poorer color although leaps and bounds better in recent years. No more 'nuclear' colors thankfully, but more obvious grading than the rest.
eIPS - basic IPS with better color still but not as 'fast'. The happy medium for most people these days.
MVA - specialist applications like the PB278Q, I dont know much about this panel type, it's not used often.
S/PIPS - professional 8-bit applications. 'slowest' but most accurate/deepest color reproduction.

For gaming AND high-color, they are currently mutually exclusive properties unfortunately. For 3D you are entirely limited to TN as this requires 120Hz: VG278H for example is 1920x1080, 27", Nvidia 3D support. It's extremely low lag and good enough color for most people. If your photoshopping is web-only it should be fine, but for actual photos it's not - you'll need (e)IPS.

Thank you very much MarshallR@Asus for the information. 😄 Although I still cant decide on which monitor to get. They are all awesome. I've been like looking and comparing monitors at the asus website for like 5 hours! I want to get an all-in-one monitor as much as possible.

"ML/MS are designo series - upcoming edge-to-edge design soon." <---- by the way what do you mean by this?

Right I've just asked our LCD marketing lass who knows about this stuff:

The MX239 (24") and MX279 (27") are new ones being launched within the next month or two. They are 'frameless' - the LCD panel goes to the very edge but there's about 1cm of black surround (because the backlight has to go somewhere). The LCD is totally flush to the front rather than recessed slightly so the effect is that you're looking at it rather than 'into a framed window'.

They are AH-IPS (advanced high performance IPS) which is slightly faster and better color and brightness (but still 60Hz so no 3D) but without extra power cost. It has HDMI/VGA inputs and a brushed aluminum base. The price will be towards premium though due to design (RD cost versus your usual black plastic panel) and materials cost.

There's also a new PA coming at 2560x1440p with 8-bit color and full Adobe RGB, but that's later.

I just bought a PA series 248Q (24") and it's really great. Don't know about 3D games though.. It has HDMI, DVI, VGA, AND Display ports! Very connectable! It also has USB ports, but I haven't figured out what they are for yet.
