RSTe or RST? Which one?

Hi Everyone -

Hoping someone can help me out with this. I'm pretty computer literate, however I'm not able to figure which one of these I should use.

Ramapge IV Extreme - 3010 Bios.

No RAID. Single boot SSD with 3 back up drives.

I've installed the RST version 11.6.0.1030 but it doesn't load, program errors out with faulting app "BEX" whatever that means.

The enterprise version however, RSTe works just fine.

Confusing to me, is that before I upgraded the BIOS the regular RST worked no problem., now the Service iaStor doesn't load but for a second then quits.

Any fixes, advice? help?

Have you enable AHCI mode?
Try enable AHCI mode, and install IRST

Yes, AHCI mode is enabled in the BIOS. Regular RST still didn't work.

RSTe will work. Currently I've removed both, cleaned the registry and I'm trying to determine which one I'm supposed to use.

Asus support site has the Enterprise version listed for download, I'm assuming that's my answer?

Yes that is your answer. X79 boards use the RSTe. You can force install the RST but at your own peril. 🙂

No peril at all. Been using the standard rst since i had this mobo, never a raid or stability issue to date.

It's a generalized disclaimer. What works for one may not work for many and what works for many may not work for one. There's always a chance that it doesn't work properly with some hardware combination or obscure configuration, so people should be informed and make up their own mind so they can't cry "foul" if the improbable happens and their data go poof 🙂

So why won't the RST app load then? The service starts then stops in .3 seconds. RSTe works perfectly though. Odd.

The service Intel RST (software Intel)?

If so, I do not know, I do not use (and RST 11.6 are OK in AHCI but not in RAID, I believe)

You mean "IAstorDataSvc" ?
I use RST (1.6.xx ) and service works correct.
