Asus G75VW + Intel 520 SSD 120gb

Hi I just bought a SATA 6.0GB Intel 520 SSD 120gb.

I have noticed that it is quite faster than my previous Corsair Force 2 60gb.

My write/read speed should be about 550 - 520.

I've run some benchmark with CrystalDiskMark and I get these results.

Isn't that quite low results? What should I do to gain speed?

The speeds are just fine no reason to worry there 🙂 I have the SanDisk Extreme 120GB version and I have almost the same results

Well yes the 520 is going to be faster then the force 2.

Your speeds are fine. Remember most places give you the speeds using attio what gives higher numbers then crystal.

Read is fine but your write is trash. That write is slower then some SATA II ssd's i had. You would be in the mid 400's for your writes.

Thank you for your information. Do you have any clue what the reason for the write is??

Could be a few things. Run atto and toss up a screen shot so I can see where your drive is tanking.

Looks like some of the antivirus software(s) may be monitoring that utility and think of it as suspicious activity ... use something else to check your speeds.

Now I have tried with ATTO, Its far better results with this benchmark.

And your drive is fine right where it should be. Advertised speed's are always based off ATTO.

The write speed is slower because the 520 series use toggle NAND which is extremely fast in read but writes are slower. Think of it, how often do you write things to your SSD and how often do you read! Read: win boot-up, driver load-up, programs (games) start, movies/music play! Write, copy paste install programs (How often do you really install programs compared to using them?!)! Pretty much that's it. After all 90% of the things you write to it is downloaded from the internet, which is what, 5-10 MB/s at most average. There shouldn't be anything to complain about. One advice from me is to get a 1GB file from your desktop to your c:\ directory and see how fast it will copy! (Since it is from the SSD to the SSD it should be fast) And then you will know how fast it is.

I wonder why does ATTO give different results?
