Hey community

Strangest thing happen to me yesterday I updated my windows yesterday, tweaked my RAM a bit lower speed tighter timings. So i decided to update my WEI score and notice my 7.9 for the Hard Disk went to 7.7:mad:, I reloaded my old OC settings but still get 7.7 I know the WEI aint the best thing to rate one's pc but it's still nice to see a 7.9. So i ran a SSD benchmark and I still get my 550mb read and 500mb write(OCz Agility 3).

Any clue how I can get my 7.9 back or did the update change the WEI rating processes(doubt it)

Thanx

Are you using the Windows AHCI drivers or AMD ones?

Thanx for the quick reply and help Shadow will follow ur advice 2 the LETTER, and get back to you by tomorrow :oI hope my 7.9 return lol.:D. Just something I came across with the OC or should i say underclocking(UC):D of my ram. I had my ram on 2266 CL10-11-10 and for 4MB on HyperPi it took 1m37s and on 1621 CL7-8-7 i got like 1m38s what do u think I should use and on how much must I set my HT Link? Thanx for ur pro advice

Hey Shadow I'm not sure but if im not mistaken im using the AMD one, cnt check now as im at university. Should I have the Windows AHCI driver install and where can I get it, or must I just uninstall the AMD 1(if installed) and Windows will install it's AHCI driver?

if the AMD ones are installed, reboot into Safe Mode and remove them, then reboot and load Windows normally and let it take care of the rest 🙂

If you are unsure, to check, load up Device Manager and click on IDE/ATAPI controllers...this will tell you which ones you have 🙂

No worries mate and lol i'm far from Pro with this stuff, I still have a hell of a lot to learn. About the HT Link....I dunno, I don't really even know what it is or where it should be set, sorry but i'm not gonna fudge something when the advice would be bad. Maybe someone else who has more knowledge on OCing can step in and help you out.

"HT" is the Hypertransport bus.
A "bus" is just a pathway for information to flow (PCI & AGP are other kinds of buses). The hypertransport bus is how an AMD CPU communicates with the memory and other parts on the motherboard.
The HT bus (link) is very fast! Since the HT link is used to carry data for just about everything on the board, it must have a good signal at all times. When you overclock anything the signal can degrade, this is why we add more voltage to stabilise things.
When you overclock your CPU your also overclocking the HT link and this causes instability. So if you lower the base speed of the HT link you can overclock the CPU more. The CPU link to HT is independent, so changing the HT multi from 5x to 4x doesn't effect the CPU speed.

Hope that helps

Hey Sectionate, i tried that as well noting worked so I suck it up and reinstall my whole OS SUCKS:(:(:(:(:(, and 4 some odd reason after installation the ACHI driver was AMD again. I made a clonezilla image of my drive and tried shadow's advice again got the EXACT same problem so I just restored my image and I was able to boot into windows again.

And now I have a 7.8 for my Hard Disk rating all the trouble to gain a 0.1 lol.

Could it be the BIOS update that caused this?
