Hello, I currently own the G74SX-XT1 and over the weekend I purchased an external monitor from Tiger Direct which is linked below.

I will try and word this question the best way I can...

Will I be able to use this monitor with my laptop since it has a 120hz refresh rate?

Also, will I be running at 120hz if I purchase a top of the line HDMI cable? This was my main reason for buying the monitor as it had 120hz refresh rate.

I hope I have not wasted my money on something that will not work. Please, if anyone can help me out that would be fantastic!

Well... after a little bit of research I was able to find out that HDMI does not support 120hz at all.

Not even the newest 1.4a

Soooo, looks like i'll have to run the monitor at 60hz >.<

I'm just hoping that this is even possible since this is a 120hz monitor.

Admin replies are not necessary. Don't worry, there are plenty of ordinary users and moderators willing to help. 🙂 You can run HDMI 1.4 with 1080p 120 Hz. You just need "High-Speed" cables for longer distances. Hope this helps! 🙂

Would it work better/faster with miracast rather than HDMI?
Correct me if I'm wrong but i remember that can output 3d also with the new Intel software?
