Hullo all of ya!
I use to love the things ASUS does, but now I need to get my faith back. Got an old ASUS Sabertooth p67 that I wanted to upgrade from, so I bought an Z270E gameing. But it turns out it was an huge downgrade. With my old P67 the games I play run smooth, but with the Z270E the same games is unplayable. Hope it is only some trouble with the copy that I got and not a common thing with this mainboard. So I just joined to get som help fixing it here.

Been a long time since I built a PC
Chris but go by MrSmoofy on the interwebz. Looking to the forums for some expert advice on getting my rig working at a decent performance. Have not built a PC since 2012 and this time I more towards gaming than just a standard PC.
Having some issues getting my money worth out of what I bought (Example changing to XMP causes black screen no post) so I'll be reading the forums and posting my questions.
Current Build:
Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler Master - Seidon 120XL 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Asus - ROG STRIX Z270i GAMING Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
G.Skill - Trident Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-4266 Memory
Samsung - 960 Pro 1.0TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB STRIX GAMING Video Card
Cooler Master - Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case
SeaSonic - X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power SupplyLast edited by MrSmoofy; 05-25-2017 at 04:52 PM.

Hi, I've been registered on this forum for a month and just now realized I never added an introduction post. I've always enjoyed tinkering with computers and learning from others on forums such as these, but never joined here until I found a great thread that helped me with a computer issue and decided to contribute.
I'm not historically what might be called a tweaker type or extreme overclocker, but I love to own above-average equipment with the ability to offer more power and advanced options, even if I may never use them to their full potential. It's worth the extra money to have such fun. Bragging rights, and the ability to just mess around with the stuff when I want. I've learned a lot from this forum in the last month, so many knowledgeable experts here, so thanks to all for that.
I'm a fan of PC games, and don't use my home equipment for CAD or REVIT or high-intensity graphical stuff, just the usual home office and finance stuff, so the advantage I get out of the higher end equipment is pretty much for gaming. Thus....ROG, it's a great line of equipment and a nice community here. See you all on the forums.Davemon50

Hello World - Assist. Prof.
Nice to meet you. Am assistant Cisco CCNA instructor at large community college. Have owned ROG GL551JW-S74 for nearly two years. Love it. Use it as work PC. But I'm frustrated with lack of detailed user documentation. Downloadable manual is consumer level. Need deeper detail. Not a hardware service manual, but an operating manual. Any ideas?

Introduction
Hello, my name is Christian, and I am a computer enthusiast who cannot exactly afford my hobby. I have (at the moment) build two computers, one for me and one for a friend. My computer was done on a budget (about $450), equipped with a GTX 750ti and an AMD Athlon II X4 845 (Quad-Core @ 3.5-3.8 GHz). Since I am 15 years of age, not many people are willing to hire and it took me about a year doing miscellaneous jobs to save for this. I have always been a big fan of ASUS products and in the future I hope to do a white/black contrasting theme with RGB accents, using as many ASUS parts as I can! So far, I'd like to use the X370-F and a Strix GTX 1060 for internals; an ASUS ROG Claymore, Spatha, and Centurion for peripherals. I hope to make it a bit modern and stylish, opting for a Thermaltake Core P3 chassis in the upright configuration. The parts I have picked out for this build settle at about $1,300 without peripherals, monitors, or other accessories. Computer hardware is truly my passion, so in the future I'd like to become a computer hardware engineer working for ASUS.

NEWB PC builder
Hello, my real name is Steve. Recently my old pC's motherboard died so I thought I would take a try at building a gaming PC. This would be my first "from scratch"
Here is the build:
Case : Phanteks Enthoo Luxe
PSU : Seasonic X-series 650W (from my old PC)
MB : ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero
RAM : G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 4133MHz
Graphics card : ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ROG STRIX OC Edition
CPU : Intel i7-7700
O/S : Win10 Pro 64-bit
DVD drive : LG SATA drive
SSD : Samsung 840 500GB
Keyboard: Corsair Gaming K70 RGB RAPIDFIRE Mechanical Keyboard, Backlit RGB LED
I will have two Seagate Barracuda 500 SATA drives, that I thought about a RAID-0 configuration for 1TB storage, then back it up to my W/D My Book 1TB Drive.
BUT... the case had two malfunctioning LED's, so replacing it (Amazon Prime), the Motherboard's RGB headers quit on me so that is also getting exchanged, the DVD drive wouldn't open returning that, and the RAM's fastest setting I could get was 3000 so returning that as well (the replacement will be another post)
