    Vertex 3 install suggestion

    Hello..

I am messing around with a pretty irritating V3..

The only way that i mange to find the V3, is by using IDE mode (Enhanced)

anyone have been trough this?, and came out any wiser?

I have other V3,s, and they didn't come this way..

In other words, i cant upgrade the firmware on the ssd, and i cant get it to be recognized by Win..

It did pop up for a couple of seconds, but gone like the wind again

Connect it to a the Asmedia ports. Change the mode to IDE so it gets detected. Then upgrade the firmware from your OS SSD that's connected to the Intel ports. Maybe that'll work.

    No...

I manged to format it, thats about it..

    ide/hotplug/driver install/updates/asmedia/intel/ u name it.. didnt work

I only got a X79 at the moment.. its possible it could have been working from another socket..

And now its to late, i just got picked up, and is on its way to the store..

    This is great..

    Lets say >

lets upgrade our company's computers, 40 of them. With fast ssd's, to speed up the work..

    Its should work out smooth.

    or..

mom is getting a gift for her 14 year old son, that dont happen to be a hw genius..

    great.. have fun..

The 2 i have now, in my rig.. works great. And was simply to connect, run upgrade, and install..

I have also upgraded the firmware, on one of them, even when hosting the OS on that drive..

    No prob..

I think i will pass the Vertex series in the future..

You do get a SSD that will not be picked up from time to time. The secret is to use Parted live CD and do a secure erase. That will remove the hidden record which is preventing the drive from being picked up. A format does not remove that instruction to the system.

Over at OCZ forums they have a bootable linux tool that does the secure erasing and firmware updating etc. I use it every time I manage my Vertex 3s...

    They also have parted magic
