Also I don't understand your question Marcus. What and where does ASUS website say different?

That only shows the first firmware version the particular chips are supported on. It's not a recommended version chart. First version was 4310 which is now entirely pulled out as well (not available for download at the support site). The latest version is 4503 and it's the most stable one when it come to Ivy Bridge-E CPUs.

Reading the last pages of this thread I understood that the latest BIOS for the Rampage IV Extreme - 4503 - doesn't need any mod to use RAID0 with TRIM.

I was able to install that BIOS with some difficulties but now I can't understand what I have to do to activate TRIM.

I have tried to download Intel RST RAID Drivers version 12.8.0.1016 but I can't install them on my system. The SetupRST.exe setup tells me "This platform is not supported.".

I am running Window 8.1 and I have fresh-installed the OS just a few hours ago. I am using a RAID0 of 2 SSDs and I used the 2 X79 managed red-ports on the motherboard (SATA 6Gbps).

Could you please tell me, step by step, what I have to do to be sure that TRIM is working and to activate it? Could you please provide a valid download link for the 12.8.0.1016 drivers (I downloaded them from Intel, but maybe it was a wrong download).

    Thanks in advance.

You have to select RST mode in the UEFI (there's a RST/RSTe toggle now). Then you'll be able to install the drivers.

Regarding the drivers Intel is as official as it gets

Thanks for your answer. I found the Advanced\SATA Configuration the possibility to set RSTe as Intel Rapid Storage Technology but it was already set as RSTe. I set it as IRST and then I was able to install the drivers from Intel using the SetupRST.exe file of the 12.8.0.1016 drivers from Intel download page.

Now the TRIM seems to work properly. I checked using a tool called "trimcheck".

I think that it would be great (and helpful) if you could update the first page of this discussion showing the procedure and telling people that they have to select "IRST" and NOT "RSTe" in the BIOS.

I initially said RST, not RSTe. RSTe is the default and I believe that is common knowledge (because that is why TRIM is not available in the first place). Anyhow I will make another thread about this as it has nothing to do with the patch.
