hi guys,
building a gaming pc and want thoughts on this.
will be getting parts in next couple days.

Intel I5 3570K
Asus SABERTOOTH Z77
CORSAIR 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz 9-9-9-24, 1.5V high performance Vengeance memory
Samsung MZ-7PC256B/WW SSD 256GB 830 Series - 2.5" SATA3 6Gbs, 2xnm Toggle DDR NAND, 3-Core ARMv9 MCX Controller, 256MB RAM, 7mm

will use existing
antec earthwats 650w power supply
antec nine hundred gaming case
gf 8800 gts

After xmass when more fun mony available put a
Asus GF GTX670 DirectCU II Edition PCI-E 3.0, 2GB 256-bit DDR5, Base:915 Boost:980 / 6008 MHz
and upgrade power supply to a
Antec HCG-900 900W High Current Gamer Power Supply

obviously waiting for the vid card gives limited use but once complete should keep me and the kids happy gaming wise for quiet a while :).
is there any shortcomings here especially ram and ssd drive ???
cheers....steve.....

Welcome to the ROG boards, Steve. It seems that you've got everything figured out. You're going to have a nice system there when you finish building it. No worries on the RAM or the SSD. They'll suffice for gaming. 😉

Go for it!

Your 600W EarthWatts will suffice - only if you're going SLI you'll need a 900W. I would look at opting for Gold/Platinum spec that's passive/semi-passive if you want a new one to improve efficiency and reduce noise/temps.

8800 GTS to GTX 670 will blow.your.mind 😉

Oh and you forgot a CPU cooler 😄

thx chino, found the site other night while researching what to get.. you know that see-saw of plan A/plan B/A/B lol...
Marshal im now a little more excited than a week ago...
current pc i built about 5 yrs ago with couple changes over time.

antec earthwats 650w power supply
antec nine hundred gaming case
samsung 20" lcd

original plan was budget system as eldest 2 boys 8/10 are now moving on from crappy games like guildwars (that'll flame a bit lol) to battlefield/sniper/farcry etc .then decided to do what i did yrs ago and get best i can afford atm.
was tossing between these 2

1155
cpu i7-3770 $298
mobo-Asus P8Z77-V LX - $127
ram - Patriot Viper PV316G213C1K 16G Kit(8Gx2) DDR3 2133 $140
vid card Asus ENGTX660-DC2O-2GD5 - $255
power supply Antec HCG-900 $155

Asus P9X79 MB $237
G.Skill DDR3-2133 16GB 4x4GB Quad Channel [RipjawsX] F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL $114
same vid and pwr supply and ssd drive as first one.

have now settled for this one
1155.
Intel I5 3570K $230
Asus SABERTOOTH Z77 $249
CORSAIR 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz 9-9-9-24, 1.5V high performance Vengeance memory $90
Samsung MZ-7PC256B/WW
SSD 256GB 830 Series - 2.5" SATA3 6Gbs, 2xnm Toggle DDR NAND, 3-Core ARMv9 MCX Controller, 256MB RAM, 7mm No bracket $202
total $771
+ Asus GF GTX670 DirectCU II Edition PCI-E 3.0, 2GB 256-bit DDR5, Base:915 Boost:980 / 6008 MHz $439
and $155 for the power supply if i need it..
i was only planning on running stock atm so thought the standard cooling was enough then later add a thermal solution like h100 when i crank it up..
so for around $1200 odd i think it will be like jumping from a stock commodore into the passenger seat next to Jamie Whincup at Bathurst 🙂
