SSD raid On PC and SSD ZFS on server.

I looked up more into IEEE 802.3ad and it seems it will only use 1 pipe per conversation, so that is useless for the PC end, though good for the server since it's serving multiple PC's.

Perhaps I should get 2 used 10gbe Cards. Only problem is they are PCIE 2.0 8x. though I suppose I could run them in the 4x slot and just deal with less bandwidth?

If it was me, I will put a raid card with a good LSI RAID controller with onboard processors on that PC and put the data you need more on them and just put long therm storage data on the server with the plain onboard Gb/s nic . Actually you can even keep your actual motherboard, You will save a lot of $$$$$$$....... PCI-e 3.0 will not give you more GPU performance on my WS I use a LSI with 3GB/S output. It give 320 MB/s to 4 WD 2TB Black drives, not bad at all if you ask me.

That sounds like a good idea actually. No need to upgrade either. Thanks.
