Desperate need for space

hi

I just got my Asus G75 back from repairs (broken motherboard) and now I need to install all my software again for school. The problem is, most of those programs automatically install on the C: partition. Which makes it a pain because when I fired my laptop up again for the first time since, it only had ~7GB free space on C: making it impossible for me to install everything (+/- 19GB).

I know that you're probably going to say "why not use 😧 because that has plenty of space left?". Well the thing is, Visual Studio 2012 e.g. can be installed on 😧 but WILL (even though you install it op 😧 ) still install 5.1GB on C: and only 1.02GB on 😧 .

I tried extending C: and shrinking 😧 for it, but I found out that C: can't be extended (even though that was possible on all the other laptops I had before this one). So now I had the question if someone knows a way to extend it or maybe knows what programs, bloatware and stuff can be deleted to make space? (also, no I do not have the time to clean install tbh. I can still work on my old laptop but would prefer to be fully operational with my Asus again since it's so powerful)

(I need a sh*tload of SDK's which all seem to have the nasty behaviour of desperatly getting installed on C: which in some cases, I can understand)

thanks in advance!

can't you just delete D:, and then try extend C:?

do I need to completely delete D or is it the same as shrinking D? because if it's the same as shrinking, then I already can answer with "it does not work". I have 30GB unallocated at this very moment (took it from 😧 ) and C: still has no option to extend, which I find weird.

the problem is when you shrink it allocate space at the end of the drive. Just download AO'EI , you will be able to move the D:\ at the end of the drive and expend the C:\ . AOMEI is free

i think the problem is that all space are occupied, and there is no unallocated space immediately after C:

i believe i saw some programs before that can let you reorganize your partitions.

edit: ok Area 66 has the answer 🙂

I try Aomei on a Windows 8 system with a SSD caching the C:\ ( Intel RST ) so if it work with this setup, it work with anything

actually it's our old friend Kipper on Windows 8 forum who post about it and make me try it

another common one is MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

also, I'm new here but I guess the little star icon is to up your reputation? 🙂

both rewben and Area 66 thank you for helping me so quickly!

Yup! Make sure to select "I approve"
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Area 66 thank you very much! it worked like a charm and this program will now be in my toolset.

But the only thing I don't get is that this is the first time that this occured... since that I already had the same situation with another laptop AND actually my desktop as well, shrunk D and extended the C without any problems... so could it be that this is Asus specific or was I just lucky that it worked? (desktop was custom built and other laptop was a Packard Bell also running the same OS)
