That is an odd one.

I can only suggest that you have a partially corrupt BIOS. And a Clear CMOS and re-flash of your bios will sort out.

thanks will try that

as funny enough I've just re-tried 45x - and I'm still stuck on 43 ....

very strage, because in the bios, at 44x and 45x - in the bios itself - at top of first screen it says target turbo 44x and 45x respectively

boot into windows and its 43x ...

daft question (as although manual says clear CMOS procedure is in a certain section- its not !!)

I assume I press CMOS button rear with pc powered down ? and just a quick press or press and hold ?

thanks

There are different ways of clearing CMOS, but for what we want to do a quick press down and that is just fine.

Please re-flash using ONLY the EZflash2 utility found in tools in the BIOS.

DO NOT ever flash via the OS.

I have the same issues on MVE with BIOSes 1309, 1408 and 1501. it seems to me that the Load Defaults (F5) option is corrupted in BIOS and loads junk settings to BIOS (they appear different in Windows then, like multiplier).

what works is to Clear CMOS using the rear I/0 button with motherboard at standby and then enter your settings and save & exit (F10), that is the only way I can use those BIOSes. 704 didn't have such issues on MVE... ASUS, when are you going to fix it and give us a solid bug-free BIOS?

it's nothing fancy, I hit a safe voltage wall after 5.0GHz (need 1.48V vcore for that), so 5.2GHz needs nearly 1.70V on vcore ... it's only possible in my case after the chip was delided (changed stock intel TIM for CoolLaboratory Liquid Ultra), under massive water cooling and with cold enough room ambient (or using room AC outlet as computer cold air intake - risky because of necessary dew point calculations for safety).

other than that I just bump up VCCIO & VCCSA to 1.25V or so, use CPU PLL @ 1.85V and adjust Digi+ settings to Ultra High, Extreme Phase, 350KHz CPU Voltage frequency and that pretty much it. nothing too complicated. I know OCN fellow members who were more lucky with their chips and could do 5.5GHz at 1.60V on their 3770K with simple air cooling (less voltage less heat), but such chips are very rare een within certain batches.

Ok feniks, my chip doesn´t yet been delided, so if i could reach 4.8GHZ on it will be very pleased, i will try it with 1408 bios that seem´s to be very stable in my system (4.5GHZ with 1.20vcore) and 62º each core temp max in Intel burn and 53º after 5 hours of battlefield 3 :)... I´ve got Water cooling with 2 240mm RAD´s, 16GB RAM@2400MHZ and EVGA GTX680 SC bios moded and water cooled to..

if 1408 causes you trouble, try going back to 704 ... that one works for me with no trouble ... all newer BIOSes 1309/1408/1501 cause me certain problems above 48x multiplier, they do work however after CMOS CLEAR ... at least for some time 😉
