ASUS M3A79T-Deluxe AMD World Records Phenom II X4 940 on LN2

V2-V3
Level 8
* More details at Welcome to the home of extreme Overclocking! *

Today I decided to load up the new AMD Phenom II 940 With LN2 and
To my surprise the chip held steady at 5.4GHz through any benchmark i could throw at it!

(first time AMD LN2 Bench)

I didnt have a Vmod on the Motherboard and was limited to 1.69v idle and 1.625v load
The motherboard was a HUGE limiting factor, The bios maxed the multiplier at 20x and the FSB was unstable beyond 270MHz

also, AMD Overdrive utility (which allows higher multipliers) does not work in server 2008.... 😞

All that kinda put me in a pinch....

I am Very Impressed, first Overclocked run nearly breaks 30K!
AMD has come a long way with the Phenom II and i believe this is only the start!
More benches to come!

If i had funds and sponsors i could do this.. i would spend time to do this.

I did this on my own without any sponsorship, aside from a Motherboard and CPU the only real expense was the $180 CPU pot and $90 for LN2

the prize winnings from taking the record more than covered the expense of the system.
