Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, only getting 144mbps

I installed the Centrino 6300 wifi card in my G74SX and connected the two antenna's to the two outside pins (1 and 2) on the card.

The laptop is 5 feet from the router which is an ASUS 802.11ac router. My HTPC which is downstairs gets full 450mbps. However my laptop cannot get more then 144mbps. Almost like the second antenna isn't even connected, though I've verified that it is.

Has anyone encountered this issue or has any ideas on how to fix?

Have you double checked to make sure you're using the same channels? checked the configs to make sure you're using 802.11n? try going through the card's properties and disable b&g, see if that helps.

If I were in your situation, I'd be tempted to try the 2 other possible antenna hookups. I agree with your analysis that it appears only one antenna is being used.

I checked the settings for the card and for some reason it was set to use the 20Mhz channel only... changing it to Auto now makes it go between 240 and 270mbps. I'll take it 🙂
