I've got a Corsair Force 3 series drive which seems to be fine..

If in honest, I don't really follow the SSD market all that much, all the drives seem to be fundamentally the same, but ever so slightly different.. As long as Windows and my core programs boot fast and the price point is right, I really don't mind what the drive is.

    That's cool!
I guess that's good way to think it, and yeah i've read that you can usually only see performance differences on benchmarks and stuff and not in real life so yeah. Howeve, Samsung is a bit cheaper for me so i'm going to be getting that one

If you want a mechanical drive to store everything else on definitely go for a WD Black (Not sure if Seagate have an equivalent) it's a three platter drive and only just slower (about 2mb/s) than the Vilociraptor for half the price. As for an SSD if you are going to get a Samsung go for the 830 Pro series they are faster than both the 840 and the 830 and very reliable drives. Intel drives are certainly worth consideration as well, although they do use the Sandforce controller they have proprietary firmware (and possibly hardware) updates they developed working closely with Sandforce.

For mechanical drives, I always go with Western Digital.
I get the Black drives for the performance drives and the Greens for just storage drives.
I plan on upgrading my 2TB Black for maybe a 4TB WD RE drive later down the road. My 2TB is starting to fill up.

Oh and back to the SSD question. Either one is fine.
I have a pair of Corsair Force GTs in Raid 0 and I've had them for over a year without any issues or hiccups, no BSODs or anything. Rock solid so far no rebuilds or anything, still on the same first install since I built my machine back in New Years day of 2012.

For mechanical drives, I always used to go for Samsung's..

But if I had to get more now, I'd probably go for WD Black's based on what i've heard.

Samsung would be my SSD of choice, that's what I will be buying if my Vertex dies.

As for HDD's, for gaming, the Black is a good choice if you could not afford a Veloceraptor.

I'm also in the Samsung camp. I just picked up two 840 pro series drives. A 128 for boot and a 256 for Steam/Programs/etc. My second choice would be Corsair Neutron GTX drives based on the reviews. Mechanical drive is a 1TB WD Black. I'm building with these tomorrow. It's going to be a blast.

hey guys! sorry for noticing your comments earlier.

I just got my Samsung 840 120GB SSD today and won't be changing it.
As for the HDD i'll definitely be getting WD Caviar Black for my games but most likely a 500GB one for starters but what do you guys think?
I mean sure 1TB will get more space but for starters 500GB should do well right? The price difference is like 300 SEK which is around 43 USD.
and then was thinking a Seagate Barracuda 2TB for storage but might change to WD Caviar Green 2TB.
