G74Sx - Update BIOS from 201 necessary?

My G74Sx is still using the 201 BIOS, and hasn't had any issues or problems that've been attributable to that. That being the case, is there any reason to update it at all? Would I necessarily be gaining anything?

If you haven't had any problems or anything, there's no real "need" to update your BIOS. But if you do decide to update it, make sure to format a USB to FAT32, drop the BIOS file on there, reboot your laptop and use the EZFlash from within the BIOS. Using the BIOS flashing tool in Windows has a higher chance of bricking your laptop and giving you a big fancy paperweight

hi, i think you have not big problem with your laptop and you are using more smooth, you don't need update, if you want to update, you can use ezflash in BIOS, winflash in OS.

If you are not experiencing any problems, a new BIOS will not gain you anything, especially performance, and flashing is a big risk to take for nothing gained. My advice: don't f with things. And if you do decide to do it, for heaven's sake don't flash from Windows using winflash!

I see my suspicions were correct about flashing from the OS. No bueno; flash from the BIOS if/when flashing.
Nice to see though that my attitude towards maintenance holds true in this case: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless something ugly rears its head, I'll be sticking with the 201 BIOS.
