    let me guess, you have Windows 8 , Windows 8 as a kernell nerwork debug something, and it reverse the 82579V to a 82579LM, when he like, I try many solution with guy s on the Technet forum and we have not yet found a solution, what I do is uninstall the drivers and reboot, it fix the problem for few days. Go in control panel and uninstall the card.

    I've been using Windows 8 on my RIVE since October with none of the issues you mention.
    Sounds like something else may be afoot in your case.
