Not a happy camper

Not sure where the majority of MVE owners stand with their setup, but I'm not a happy camper. Why you say? Well let me count the ways:

  • Doesn't matter the bios, settings don't seem to stick.
  • Don't mess with UEFI Windows 8 setup unless you video card supports UEFI GOP, not many do
  • Fast Boot? Even with a HD4000 enabled as the default GPU, I cant get Windows 8 to boot in UEFI mode
  • Trim working on Windows 8 with 1601 BIOS? Intel says you need 11.2 OPROM. Seem to be stuck on 11.0 something.

So my upgraded system (from a MIVE, that I was fairly happy with, although it had to be replaced 4 times), now is pretty much no better than my P67 (although I got trim to work on Windows 7, with a modded OPROM bios)

RANT RANT RANT 😛

But seriously, if this was a automobile purchase, I would have died turning on the ignition, at least a few times.

BIOS settings not sticking eh? hmm are you having any problems with the time always changing? also do us a favor please and have a look at the CLRCMOS jumper on your Motherboard and make sure it's on pins 1 & 2...just for curiosity's sake

I take it from your sig that you´re overclocking through BIOS, but have you been using AI Suite for overclocking at some point? Even if uninstalled AI Suite can linger and mess with BIOS settings.

Thanks for the replies.

Think that the bios on this board regardless of version are a bit immature. Thank Microsoft for 'changing' things with Windows 8 regarding its Fast Boot processes. Been reading on a whole slew of forums about the problems folks are having adapting their video cards to be Fast Boot VBios compatible.

Looks like modifying the OPROM to 11.6 has enabled trim on Windows 8 as my SSD benchmarks are improving.

I would love to get Fast Boot to work, but I guess I should count myself lucky as to have a stable 4.6 overclock.
