4.8 Barrier

Hey Guys-

I am having some horrible problems getting a solid 4.8ghz overclock. I have great watercooling (including VRMS). So temps have been of no concern. I am posting all my settings. Offset is high in this photo so the temps with this get the last 2 cores into the low 80's. I can deal with the 70's when stress testing.

I was just pushing it up for the hell of it. Constant BSOD 101's in Prime.

I've been jerking my chain here for 2 days. Any help with that sweet spot would be great, TIA

Have you tried downclocking your RAM to push the CPU clock further?

No I have not. I will give it a whirl.

thanks. i will post back

Hmm... have you tried leaving the frequency stuff on auto....and RAM section tweak mode to "mode 1"

Above all I would leave offset alone until you have found a stable voltage manually.

The clock gen filter for 2133 you could try 10uf or even leave it on auto...?

I would try to reduce CPUPLL too 1.6 to 1.8 range...weirdly enough I've seen setting it lower 1.6...1.65 cure some ills

I'd also set VTT manually 1.25

In fact I'd forget XMP and set the RAM up manually....that's one kit right?

Yeah I was doing my RAM manually. Did not seem to make a difference. It worked fine at 4.7, 4.6.

Yes it is one kit.

Have you tried with pushing your LLC to high?
i7-3820 @ 5.0Ghz - RIVF - 32GB Kingston @1866 - Gigabyte Radeon 7970 x2 - Cosair Force GT 240GB x2 (RAID 0) - WD 2TB 7200 (RAID 1)

Yes. I had it up to 180

I will agree with Arne Saknussemm and I would set also, CPU LLC from Medium to Ultra High to reduce Vdroop under load. First try to find a stable manual Vcore and after, if it is neccessary, you can try to reach it with offset mode.

OOPS. I had the llc at medium. I was looking at the current when i wrote the last reply,,,,
