G51Jx, Windows 8, and the Softkeys
Hello!
I've got a G51Jx, and am currently running Windows 8 Premium. I'm trying to get the bar of softkeys - the touch-sensitive controls next to the power and ExpressGate buttons - working, but I can't figure out how to make that happen.
Which program is it that makes those work, and is there a good way to make said program work well in Windows 8?
Thanks, everyone!

The ASUS ATK Package controls the Function Keys. It sounds like you need to install it.

The softkeys now respond (they flash when touched), but they don't do anything. In particular, what I need is to be able to use them to turn my touchpad on and off. Does that functionality come from another program?

As I understand it, the ASUS ATK Package works with the Touchpad driver. You need to have BOTH installed.

I installed the touchpad driver, and the softkeys still aren't controlling the touchpad. On the other hand, the software for the touchpad has a setting to disable the touchpad automatically when a USB pointing device is plugged in, which accomplishes the goal I wanted to accomplish.
