Do you need Kaspersky with Win8 Pro? I thought Windows Defender was supposed to be excellent. I found Kaspersky causes a few startup hangups when using it previously.

Yes Win 8 has the old security essentials built in....so you have protection.....just a personal thing if you are good with this or not....Kaspersky gets better reviews but since this is an industry i don't know if those reviews are paid for etc....

I wonder what they mean by "Upgrade" ? Do you have to have a older version of Kas installed? I just bought and installed this very same version two weeks ago. I downloaded this and hopefully the licence will still be good in a year when my current one runs out. Kaspersky had this same offer three or four years ago and I've been using it since then. Havn't had a virus make it past. A lot have been blocked. What I really like about it is the ability to control most of the features. Plus it's got some good tools.

Set your clock back to before the 8th of March, if I recall correctly from when I tried to install. Some silly person distrubuted it now with an outdated certificate that expired a month ago  Simple clock trick works though. Much appreciative of the continued support either way from ASUS, looked it up and found out how decent it is and made the switch over!

Didn't have any previous Kasperspy installed and wasn't required, only issue was the expired certificate. Just have my Rampage IV board and nothing else needed to be done or even asked of me from the install.

I don't use Kaspersky... Instead I find the MS Security Essentials is enough.
Must be working 'cause my system hasn't been infected with anything, let alone malware and I'm always online!

I've set my date to 01.03.2013 and successfully installed Kaspersky. Thanks for the help.

Regarding the MS Security Essentials ... I don't trust this, because it failed me many times and I'm sick of it and I was about to buy kaspersky or Norton, because my Norton was about to expire next week, but this ROG free Kaspersky saved me some $$, so I'm happy.

The only thing that is missing is ROG Deamon Tools Pro version 🙂
