Crammed a GTX 560M in to my G73SW working, but need driver help! Lets hear some Ideas

Ok, finally got my new SW Motherboard and my GTX 560M from a G53SX. I modified the heatsink from the SW and put it on the 560M. The computer boots no problems, Windows 8 loaded. It's using a generic Windows display driver. When I try install nVidia Drives it says that it's not compatible. If I try to manually install the drivers it gives me a message that there was a error installing drivers.

So Great Gaming G Series Guru's. Lets hear some ideas on how to get this thing running correctly.

I got the driver from nVidia 314.22. When I try install it gets a error when checking the hardware. "This graphics driver could not find compatible hardware"

I'm thinking it's going to need a vbios flash to get everything working, but not sure what needs to be changed yet.

did you check if windows detects your GPU? check your device manager if your VGA detects a 560m if it doesn't that means it's not installed correctly or i guess you haven't crammed it well

since you said your running generic windows driver. if your on windows 8. try to boot with signature driver disabled (metro>settings>general>windows boot options) if your on windows 7 then i'm not sure perhaps you could try to download the first driver from G74SX Asus driver support website. see if it works

Your the MAN Adamsyes!!! It was the signature driver disabled, that was causing the problem. It now installed the drivers and is showing everything as the GTX 560M as it should. Though the Windows Experience Scores are the exact same as when it had the 460M in. I bumped up the clocks to 850/1700/1250 and still pulled the same numbers as the 460M with the same settings. I'll run some real benches marks a bit later tonight.

Anyway here is a quick shot of my computer running it.

have you tried to manually tell the driver what card it is?

no problem! haha glad it works!

Yea, windows index would probably add 0.1 point or nothing. on my g74sx i have 7.2 for graphics card. hm its weird that yours chills at 7.0.

how are the temps like? it could probably because of temps hitting a bit to warm so the clocks get slower therfor the performance scan from windows index with 3Direct coding becomes lower

i might be wrong though haha

oh btw. you're 460m. was it a 192-bit or 128-bit? Because if it was a 192, it would actually perform better than a 560m 128 bit. just saying although a 560m bit would be better in overclocking of course

I've not pushed it to hard yet, but right now just surfin it's at 37C. When I ran the Windows Experience Score it got up to 52C. The temps actually look better then my 460M. I knew there wasn't going to be a large performance increase with the 560M, but it should run more efficiently and cooler.

My score actually originally came in at 6.9 I bumped the clocks up a bit to get that 7.0.

My 460M was the 128-bit so the choices were go to the 460M 192-bit or the 560M 128-bit.

This was more of a text case as I ran across the 560M pretty cheap. I've got my eye out for a 670M out of a G75VW.
