G75VX: Bluetooth file transfer help

I'm unaware of how to transfer files using Bluetooth. For example, to an Android phone.

My laptop has this functionality and the icon can be found in the tray.

Are there instructions anywhere for this or does someone know how to do it?

Personally, I find it easier and more phone battery-efficient to transfer files by connecting the phone to laptop with the included USB charging cable and using Windows Explorer.

There must be incompatibility between my tablet and laptop. After pairing, Windows 8 tells me the device is offline
under Devices in PC settings. Bluetooth for my laptop and tablet are permanently discover-able.

File transfer from my Android tablet to my laptop is unsuccessful. Though I can't determine what Bluetooth driver I'm using.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfwinrt-surfdevice/htc-mobile-connect-via-bluetoo... indicates Windows 8 may have problems with Bluetooth connections to Android devices, showing them as "offline".

Perhaps installing Astro File Manager on your Android tablet will allow you to transfer files over Bluetooth with even more flexibility. See http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/23725/transfer-many-files-from-android-to-pc-without-usb-....

Of course mesh networking software would be a perfect solution on any operating system.
Windows 8 and Android should have standardized ad hoc file transfer for 2 or more nodes by default.

Subsequently this realization makes Bluetooth seem primitive and I have less desire to use it.
I'm unaware of programming complications in making standard mesh networking practical though.

Often I don't have a cable at my convenience so functional wireless transfer would be great.

You guys may have thought of this already, but is uploading and downloading from 'cloud' storage an option (after other options are exhausted?)? It may not be as easy or convenient since you would need an internet connection, but thought I would just mention it.

Actually I did use gmail when I could not Bluetooth a document today.
My school started implementing student accessible WiFi. It's still extremely slow and inefficient compared to ad hoc transfers.

Even being elsewhere, mesh networking would be appreciated.
Asus should look into it for their products.
