Recommendation for PSU

So My rig is working great now... But the "hand-me-down" PC I built my mom has some ariflow issues because of it's power supply (TX750, non-modular), so I've decided to install my AX760 in my mom's case (old HP Pavilion case, circa 2003) and maybe buy myself a higher wattage PSU... I'm planing on building a custom water-cooling loop for myself sometime this year, and since I'm already running CrossFire, I think that a 760 Watt PSU my not be sufficient enough once I add pumps and sh*t...

So... Does anyone have any recommendations as to what Wattage/brand I should look at???

Thanks-in-advance! 🙂

You can't go wrong with Corsair PSU's and from the name dropping I see in a few threads, Seasonic also offer up great PSU's too. I'd probably suggest at least 850...though it depends on exactly how much LC you're going to do as well.

Well... I've just started researching things... but I'm planning on WCing my CPU, both of my 7950s, and I'll probably buy the waterblock of the VRMs of my C5FZ, too... Not sure about the RAM though... 🙂

As far as radiators go, I'm thing one dual 180mm in the bottom of my FT02 and a thick 120mm in the top...

Like I said, I'm just starting to acquaint myself with custom watercooling, so I might only do it this fall or something, but since I need a PSU anyway, I might as well be prepared... 😛

So what do you think, 860W? 1000W? AX1200i??? 🙂

From what I understand is you'll need 120mm for every part you intend on cooling. So at least a 240 for your GPU's and a 120mm should be sufficient if you do a loop with your CPU and VRM's. Don't worry about cooling your RAM as everywhere I read, LC'ing your RAM is mostly just bling factor lol.

A 1200 would probably be Golden, especially if you ever plan on adding extra HDD's to your setup...or other stuff.

Thanks Zka17!
I'm kinda torn between the 1200i (I've been using a 760i, so I'll still have Link and I won't have to completely re-do all my cabling 😛 ), the Seasonic PLATINUM-1000 (or the XFX rebrand), or the Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 1200W (It's not 80+ Platinum, but it is on sale on NCIX US for $270)...

So, as you can plainly tell, I'm not really sure which to go with... 😛
Suggestions??? 🙂

this helps who makes what and who just designs and who fabricates. id stick with antec or seasonic.

normal cooling 120 per cooled part, OC 2 120 per cooled part.
psu: from 860W and up is a good one.

So would a dual-180mm + a thick 120mm be insufficient??
