Welcome to the Republic of Gamers forum, BrianC.

1. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bits only supports up to 16GB of RAM. The Ultimate and Pro versions support up to 192GB of RAM.

2. No, you do not need to connect the EZ Plug for your configuration. The EZ Plugs come in handy when you're running 3 or 4 GPUs.

3. The Asus GTX 680 supports the VGA Hotwire feature. So yes, it's compatible with the MVE.

thanks for bumping my post to the right forum and the help'
so i should upgrade to win 8 then and if so what version

You don't have to upgrade to W8 necessarily. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and Windows 7 Pro 64 bits support up to 192GB of RAM like I mentioned in my previous post. But if your wish is to get W8, you can get any of the 3 versions available since the 64 bit versions of all 3 support more than 32GB.

Yip your OS is the determining factore.

Win 8 works just fine especially if you use the win 7 style desktop and loose the Metro desktop.
