i have the Maximus V formula with Intel 3770k cpu. i also purchased G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-19200CL11Q-16GBZHD. it runs fine when running in default mode but if i turn on XMP within an hour or 2 it will BSOD i am running it with the supplied fan on it (only 1 will fit on this board). has anyone else run into this issue?

Welcome to the Republic of Gamers forums, usul.

Please do some Memtest86+ runs on your RAM. If you're not familiar with the test, you can find a simple guide written by a friend of mines in my signature.

Here's a lit of test that you'll need to perform.
1. Test each module individually at their default speed then their XMP speed.
2. Test them together at their default speed then their XMP speed.

Each test should be error free. Let us know the outcome. 😉

OK ran Memtest in both modes and all went well and passed all tests. so i went and kept XMP on and booted up. within 10 minutes the system froze and a horrible screeching sound came out of the speakers until i powered off. went back in and turned xmp off and it runs OK so far.

Have you manually applied the DRAM voltage in the bios?
Running with all 4 dimms populated may require a bit more voltage above spec.

Can't remember if enabling XMP profile automatically sets the required DRAM voltage.
Any event, I would not let the board decide what voltage to run at.
So, please manually set the DRAM voltage in the bios and you should be good to go.

If so here are you specs.

•DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)
•Timing 11-11-11-31
•Cas Latency 11
•Voltage 1.65V

XMP should set it correctly but it never hurts to double check.
