7970DC2T flashed with Matrix Platinum bios

Yesterday I bought the 7970DC2T to replace my crappy XFX 7970 B.E. which was voltage locked and with an awful revised PCB by XFX which didn't had a dual bios switch.

DC2T was stable at 1180 MHz for the core and 1700 MHz for the memory, but Asus has the voltage locked as usual.

I read a topic that Matrix Platinum and recent DC2T's sharing the same PCB so I flashed the card with the Matrix Platinum bios.
Voltage is unlocked and the card is stable at 1200 - 1800 MHz with no voltage increase (stock is 1,256 V)! Voltage can reach 1,4 V using Asus GPU tweak!

That was me flashed first time 🙂

Actually you can give 1.256V, it shows 1.3, 1.4V; it's just 1.256V

Also worked as CF with matrix bios 🙂

And I think PCB's are not same, but no problem. It works.

Yes! Yours thread I had read!
I believe that the sku of the pcb is the same, that's why there aren't problems such as artifacts and etc.
The card is stable 100%.

The matrix and DC2 pcb's differ quite a bit 🙂

yello guys.

i got this baby yesterday. Is pretty impressive this card i have to say. well at least in terms of size.

Is a beast.

Now, i have a doubt. the switch on the card! Is dual bios or is a switch to change to dvi or display port?

i want to flash the card but i don't wanna break it. Im a bit scary to be honest. The button has to be in position 1 or 2 to flash the card?

And my second question. Is the matrix bios really safe mate?

Im sorry for my bad englis mate, im from Portugal.

Thanks guys

Bios switch bios position must be like this

20339

My suggestion: before flashing, check your OC limit with default bios. If works with 1100Mhz, than your gpu is good 🙂 You can flash.

Can you play Crysis 3 with 1200Mhz highest settings?

I did play Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit for 30mins.. 60-65C, Ok, no problem. But with Crysis 3 sometimes crahes 🙂 1180 is ok for Crysis 3

I had not had any luck flashing my DC2T with the matrix bios. My original bios is 015.012.000.004.000000. I have the switch set to dual link DVI (towards DVI output ports) and have tried all 4 bios for the dual link DVI, which ends with U2. The flash completes, but on reboot the card will not load drivers and GPU-Z shows Unknown for Pixel Fillrate, Texture Fillrate and bandwidth. The GPU Clock and memory Show 0. When I flash back to default bios, all this information is displayed in GPU-Z (using ver 0.7.0).

Are some people having issues with the older DC2T cards?

Just use gpu tweak v 2.2.1.4 and stock bios.

I have always had my bios switch set the other way when flashing, towards the pci-e power connectors.
