Which RAM should I get?

Granamere

OK so upgrading my memory which should I go for?

http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=516

http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=514

Both ar DDR3-2400 the only difference I can see is SPD Speed one is 1600 the other is 1333. But both are 2400 so does it matter?

If someone thinks there is better option out there please thrown that into the mix. I would like to end up with 32 GB of RAM at the end of this also.

Also how much of a preformace gain will I see over my current Corsair 1866 memory?

Thanks,
Granamere

Get the [ TridentX ] F3-2400C10Q-32GTX kit. In daily use, you'll gain little to no performance. In benchmarking or memory intensive programs, you'll get about 5% if not less.

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade from 1866 memory.
You aren't going to see much of a performance gain, period.
And do you really think you will need more than 16GB?

For photo and video editing with everything open yes 32 GB will help. For gaming I never use that much currently. Also at some point I might run a few VM's on the computer so it would help at that point as well.

Chino. Why the TridentX over the Rijaws Z?

Thanks for the help and advice. I am still learning. 🙂

Both kits are good, at the end of the day it is about cost and usage.

Is it worth spending the extra for the Corsair Dominator Ram? It looks like the timings are the same. Is the Corair just better for overclocking?

I doubt you'll be able to overclock either very much if any.

Anandtech says that DDR3-1600 is the sweet spot.

Pcunite thanks for the input. Are you saying go for the G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series since the base clock is 1600? Do you have a link to the Anandtech article. I went looking around for some of the Anandtech sites reviews but I did not find one that points me to 1600 base clock as being better. Actually after reading the reviews I find I do need to think about the whole timing specs of the chip and not just the speed. Also glad I am using liquid cooling so the chips will fit. 🙂

I did link to it. The theme on this forum shows links in bold and white, makes it hard to tell its a link.

Here is the link: click here.
