upon windows installation, you can bring up the command prompt via shift+f10. call diskpart and convert the disk to gpt (it's best to do this in a single disk environment to prevent troubles):
diskpart> list disk
diskpart> select disk
diskpart> clean (this remove ALL partitions in the disk!)
diskpart> gpt (this convert the disk to gpt)
diskpart> exit
that's it.
