So I bought 2x4 Corsair SO-DIMM's for my laptop hoping for some improvement with the 1600Mhz speed but instead have not got much. The sticks run at 1334MHz .. So is this worse or better than my previous RAM and I was wondering about suggestions on what to do? return? and what RAM should i buy for a cheapest and best performance :rolleyes: and also can anyone suggest stable overclocks for kits! thnks!!!!!!! i have a 2670 processor, g74 model pc.

for G74SX memory spec. is DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 4 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 16 G SDRAM (Quad Core), 2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM (Dual Core), i think you bought 1600, it jsut run 1333.

Unfortunately with that notebook it appears to be overriding the 1600MHz setting and only setting it to 1333. You may want to see if there is an updated bios that will let it run at 1600MHz. If not it might be a limitation of the processor or notebook. Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any more issues.

There is a post somehwere that I can't find today where the logic behind the limit is explained. It has to do with heat dissipation. Although user fostert has said this really isn't a big deal any more

Just for information, regardless of the rated speed of memory kits the system will run them at default speed for that chipset. In this case 1333MHz, to get the rated memory speeds overclocking or said another way manual setting of the memory is going to be needed. It does not just happen automatically sad to say.
