@SpasTaz0917, based on what i saw in my g55, i think it's a 1mm. i too don't have thermal pad i just reused the old ones.
@xperiaplayerpro, for gpu, i use dot method with prolimatech pk-2 (work nicely; idle at 46c, never exceeded 73c for long-hour gaming at room temperate; and it's hot here!). for cpu, i use tuniq tx-4 (this one spreads so easily; again, dot method; yes i am lazy).
