I haven't been too overtly into OC'n just to get a little better Frame Rate but running this RealBench thingy while on the Phone with chrsplmr I noticed that the program has a lot of Graphics Work going on but my CCC showed no change in usage and stayed like this the whole time?

If it's going to measure Graphics shouldn't my HD5870 have atleast come out of Low Power Mode?

...mostly 2D though in Realbench, not 3D which would call the higher clocks

Thank You snowking7, it just hit me funny considering with the AMD lines things like H.264 and such are handled on the GPU and not on the CPU but this test seemed like it was all CPU because thru things like SpeedFan I was getting all kinds of CPU Utilization but no GPU use at all.

Does this mean what it sounds like ??? DC- Are you saying the Intel systems lines things like H.264 on the CPU .. advantage Intel ?? And that's why OC'n the gpu has no effect ???
So is this a true RealWorld test or not .. for both systems ??
I mean its very clear that a system w/ cpu that clocks to 5 with 2400 memory and ssd
has advantages .. but what of between gpu's ?? [stand back .. learning going on ..]
more questions than answers ... yet. [lov it.]
So the two types of cpu's work so differently that comparisons are always
apples to oranges from any test ??? What about APU's ?? [forgive my ignorance ..
but I just don't know .. I'd love to understand.]

[now I'm real sorry I had to cut our conversation short .. after 2 hours .. and we
didn't get to discuss this .. fascinating.]

If this was to see how systems compare doing everyday tasks we do yet it tests
the way one type of system handles the tasks yet not the other how is it a
comparison but between the same systems ???

im boggled .. my brain hurts .. im going to bed .. hahhahhaa.
hows the dog ever going to catch its tail ??? .c.

I love 3D benching, and there may be hope ...from the Realbench intro on this site "...This is our first release – v1.0. Version 2.0 due in the coming months will add more open source tests versions to cover OpenCL, graphics performance and other functions like IO...."

3D benchmarking takes a LOT of resource to do unfortunately. I'm not sure it will make 2.0, but maybe 3.0. We're still very interested to do OpenCL and improvements to the existing tests.

well - one step at a time...OpenCL could be fun ...just wondering whether in the longer run, couldn't you get a 'collage' of 'snips' of 3D benchmarks assembled into a 3D test, ie via some game makers ?
