Did you mean:

this is a graphics question, not sure if this is the correct forum

I am getting back into pc gaming, so sorry if this question is so blindingly obvious that I get some sort of nubbiest of the nub award, buuuut:

Used to, back when we walked everywhere through three feet of snow and it was uphill both ways, we cranked rendering as far back as was viable. Not only did this make us faster, but the smallest piece of your opponent that was not behind cover became a glaringly obvious patch of pixelated target.

Now, everyone seems to be trying to push the resolution ratio as high as it can go...

What gives? Is it the opposite now?

Depends on what you want I suppose.

I like playing games maxed out with full eye candy, can't fathom people spending thousands on a machine not to push it and get the best graphics possible and all.

But saying that, I know people who I cannot fathom, because in LAN's that I go too, there are gamers that have a better set up than mine, playing on 15" CRT's with their noses on the screen and the graphics are horrible.

They kick my rear end, but my game looks nice lol
