Maximus Hero VI AI Suite III 4-Way Optimization and Adaptive Power/Clockspeed Issues

The 4way optimization worked for me, without selecting a particular target (42, 44, 46), as well. I've tried it twice with different ambient temperatures. The first time, with cool ambient temps, it automatically gave me a nice stable overclock with a 46 multi. The second time, with significantly warmer ambient temps, it automatically gave me a nice stable overclock with a 44 multiplier. In each case I was able to manually reduce the voltages a bit and maintain stability. The 4way optimization may not have complete full spectrum tuning discretion. Maybe it's limited to those three target overclocks. I don't know. It could be that it will never give you a 4.8GHz overclock even if both your chip and cooling solution are golden, but it has worked for me to a certain extent and gave me nice and stable baseline overclocks to work from. That's been my experience, anyway.

Now, that's not to say that is isn't working for some people or not living up to their expectations. Just because I may have had different expectations and/or haven't experienced any of the other various anomalous problems people have reported doesn't mean they don't exist. The fact is, however, my Maximus VI Hero has worked perfectly with the AI Suite III software from day one and has continued to work perfectly through all the various BIOS, Utilities and driver updates and has completely met all my expectations and then some.

@ IM2L844 are you saying you were able to get AI 3 to OC your CPU as depicted in the Asus ROG AI 3 youtube videos? Also I noticed your signature block you are running 16 GB 2400 RAM. How is your ram configured 2 x 8 or 4 x 4? I'm curious about the memory configuration as AI 3 takes this into account when attempting OC.

@ Raja I'm still some what confused. As several in this thread have pointed out, a lot of customers that purchased the Maximus VI Hero were under the impression that the board and AI Suite 3 would attempt OC to BSOD then set the maximum stable OC for the system. As it is now we have three OC options 4.2, 4.4 and 4.6 GHz. Please see pic below. Is this a limit of the motherboard or AI Suite 3 has determined these are the maximum available OC options based on other system components such as RAM?



I have been able to OC to 4.6 GHz using AI Suite 3. Here are my system specs:

Maximus VI Hero, I7-4770K, Corsair H60 water cooler, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 (2x8), Corsair TX850M PSU, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, 2 MSI Radeon 7850 Twin Frozer GPU OC=1000 MHz / Memory OC=1400 MHz (Crossfire X), Corsair Carbide 300R Case.

@Raja, regardless of the answers given here, Asus IS marketing something, and it's doing so wrongly. The manual overclocking video hosted by JJ says to wait for the 4 Way optimization video if you want something to do it automatically. The 4WO video being presented clearly sets out the WRONG expectation to consumers unless they're buying the particular setup offered in the video, at no point does it state that it is specific to that model of motherboard. It states which version of the board was used, but that's it.

Do other Z87 boards perform the same as the ROG version with AIS3 or the one in the video? Who can tell, because the initial information in the YT video doesn't state anything about the software being specific to certain part numbers.

Even more fun is the fact the video actually mentions it's using a mid range board, it's great that other mid to high end boards don't get the same functionality.

The YouTube videos should have disclaimers on them stating the experience will be different across different products, and should also state which products are different.. Or re-record a disclaimer at the start and have JJ do a ROG Ai suite video so people know what they're buying into.

I actually took to YouTube for some guides first since I just bought a Maximus VI Extreme and there are SO many options in the bios that I figured it was best to make some sense of what I was getting myself into, and the 4WO video was one of the first I came across. Watching it gave me an impression of what the software should be like, not is. Bad enough I was already disappointed with the terrible OC panel that was included, but this is just another nail in the coffin of the customer experience.

'Your board doesn't have the right hardware" simply isn't a great response. As an analogy, if you saw a sport mode at the press of a button being demo'd on a Porsche 911 - and went out and bought one only to find, sure you can do the same thing, but you have to set the traction controls and other features manually instead of just pushing the "sport mode" button you saw, how happy would you be? The model is the "same" but the driving experience isn't what you thought it would be, would you be completely happy with "Oh yeah it doesn't have a sport button and that model doesn't do it without you going and setting it all." Feel free to feed that back to your internal teams, marketing etc, it's not directed at you. But the people that market the product have to know they're not doing an accurate job.

Please feel free to feed that back to the relevant departments, marketing, QA, etc. It's not directed at the messenger.

I guess i'll see if i can manually strive for 4.7 and 4.8 OC's under a good voltage, I know I won't be doing it at the click of a button.

...and I can't seem to get my system stable at x48 x47 at 1.408v is rock solid, but needed a realy bump in voltage from x45/46 to get to x47. Maybe I'll try 1.55v for x48 then?
