Try mInitools partition Wizard, and see if you can see it there. If not you may have a defective SSD

Make sure all SATA channels are enabled in the BIOS, and that the drive is formatted using "create and format hard disk partitions".
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Go to the advanced tab in BIOS, then scroll down to SATA Configuration.
You should see the second drive there, if you formatted the drive. (the drive will not show if drive is not formatted)

    My first post, Hello everyone.
    Interesting
I just bought(1-2-2014, 1349$) a new G75VX-DS72 from Newegg (supposedly the same model that Gunny5821 purchased) BUT mine has a 256gb ssd already installed. Wondering what other differences there are?

    Win8 64, build 9200
    UEFI Bios v204, 10/31/2012
    16Gb (4x4Gb) Ram
    Disk 0 LITEONIT 256Gb ssd, 5 volumes: 300mb EFI sys, 900mb Recovery, 95.39Gb NTFS OS (C:, 121.78Gb NTFS Data (D:, 20.01Gb Recovery
    Disk 1 Hitachi 750Gb, 2 volumes: 349.32Gb NTFS Primary (E:, 349.32Gb NTFS Primary (F:

I'm assuming I would benefit the most by installing the SSD as the boot drive, so I'd need to do an image of my hardrive 1st and copy it to the SSD? Then change the boot order?

Yea or just clone it over then pull the hard drive and save for any future need you can do with the 2 slots you have or VIA SATA to USB adapter.
Imaging you OS drive is always a great Idea Your Imaging software should work a cloning tool also. Be sure to boot your Software UEFI

Adding 2nd Drive to ASUS G75VW-DS72

OK, I will add 2nd drive to the caddy in the empty bay and install the caddy and plug in to bay connectors.
Then start computer. Please give instructions for WIN 7 Pro to recognize the new drive as a storage drive when I boot system.
Thank you in advance for your help.
