I got 2 gtx 680 dct just now. I already have a dco all of which are 3slot... while i was caught up thinking my mobo had the right spacing to accomodate 3 I forgot about the sli 3way bridge being for 2slot cards

anyone have any knowledge on how i could 3way sli these without installing waterblocks to make them 2 slot cards?

It's pretty much too late to return the 2 I bought

I got caught up with think aa ps4 could get within a stones throw of my gaming aility and didn't think things all the way through

^^^ The problem is he's got 3 Slot GPU's.....must be friggin "huge", I dont know if a Board exists that can cope with that, if you find one it should come with the correct SLi bridges, but to be quite honest the SLi bridges have not been a requirement for a very long time.....not sure which nv Driver made them obsolete, but I do know SLi or Tri SLi will work fine with out the bridge.
Most of us use it more for aesthetics and if it reaches why not.
You'll also have to ensure your Case has adequate slots (up to 10) for Tri SLi triple slot cards........or just get water blocks 😉

I bought the asrock 2s2s rigid sli bridge yesterday , managed to find one on ebay for 15$. and my Rampage 4 extreme will fit and my coolermaster hafx has 9slots so JUST enough

as far as flexible bridges aparently not even a 12cm will fit the 7slot difference. I lucked out and got that rigid bridge though

If I could afford to custom watercool I would! i alreadfy have temp issues at powerphases that required me to ghetto mod a fan on the back of my mobo tray hovering over the cpu socket area(so ghetto it uses one twist tie and the gpu cooling channel that comes with a hafx) got temps down to 120f max though so I ain't complaining
also thanks foir the heads up that sli brifge wasn't required. i had no clue

also for folding do i need to make jumpers now for my 2 extra gpus or has that been resolved?

No, you're right...I just tried it and it's well short....so you did good to order the specially made one.

While I think, technically, SLI can run over the PCIe lanes only, I think it does help in some situations..especially with the higher end cards. I think lower end cards don't use all PCIe bandwidth available but for top end cards the bridge still helps performance....The bridge allows 1GB/s transfer which if your're running 2 PCIe 2.0 cards at x8 will be a help......maybe the bandwidth with PCIe 3.0 makes that figure a small percentage figure....one lane is running almost 1GB/s so if you are running two cards at x16 PCIe 3.0 the bridge is just for show....butI'm keeping mine....that fraction of a percent might get me a point at HWBOT 😄

Good tips! What switches need to be on on the mobo for the PCIe because I wont be using 2-3 and there isn't a switch for the black lane.. Also Its gonna be limited to x16 x8 x8 So should I use pci express 3.0 settings? I heard of stuttering with pcie 3.. never exerienced it but.. anyways YES those 3dmark points should it matter if I keep it 2.0? if i have the bridge? Supposedly they aren't actually pcie 3.0

You can switch off lane 3 but lane 2 governs the black slot (they are 2a red and 2b black).

You would have to try both and see.....have a read of this http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?32496-A-word-of-warning-regarding-GEN3-support-and-SB-E....... was running 3.0 but now am staying on 2.0 until I get an IB-E CPU....

Hmm. I think what it is is they are pcie 3.0 ready in bios is because IVY-E is x79 and will be on the motherboards and that has it. So the boards have the technology in place just not the cpu
