Memory slot question

Is it really important to use the blacks slots instead of the red? The Maximus VI Gene, Extreme and Hero say you should use the black slots with two sticks but the new Maximus VI Formula want you to use the red slots. Why I wonder is that model different. I saw this in the manual in both CHN and JP versions.

Could you please post up a link to the Formula user manual please.


And yes you should use the slots indicated in the manual. So black it is.

I had this very question and was told to use the red slots despite the manual. My M6E manual says black slots, not red ones. Which is the correct answer? Use red slots for overclocking only?

I also saw the Maximus VI Formula in a video from Computex from Newegg that was using the red slots for two sticks. I'm just wondering what the difference is and why.

Not yet but the manual is up, just not in english yet. The photo in the manual clearly shows to use the red slots when using two sticks of ram.
