Hey guys i hope you will help me out on this ive spent a few weeks consulting with friends and this is what im mostly sure on for a new rig

I read http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?33958-Possible-new-PC-(Yes-its-still-AMD-Chino-i-am-loyal-l... and have taken some cues from it as to where to go with mine

My full spec can be found here;
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1cPGm

I hope that linking out to its okay but i can add it to this post if prefered

The only things im not sure on are the RAM and the PSU.

Hope you guys think this is a good spec let me know if i need to change anything up 🙂

There is no computer that is built now that will be future proof for two years, never mind 5 years.

I personally am of the mind that right now Intel is the best option for a gamer. With the 4670K processor being the pivot for any gamer builds that I do.

Well fair enough but it will last me, im using a Quad core Q6600 @ 2.4GHz with 4GB of ram and a Radeon HD 3850 512MB. which is a decent spec for 2008 lol 😉 Im not a major gamer and i will probably be watching more video on it than i will games. I will still be playing games ofc i'd like it to last me through Uni and it will im just trying to get the best spec so it doesn't get outdated too fast.

Right may I ask why you are selecting AMD then?

Think that that one comes down to price really as ive just looked into the chip you suggested and it puts me into £500 for the processor and mobo alone =/

CPU and ROG Hero mobo come to £350 using my maths. But it is your call mate. I am simply providing you with options that are more performance for about the same money.

HiVizMan's configuration and a few changes I made.
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£259.19 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£79.32 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£164.39 @ Aria PC)
Memory: G.Skill Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory (£119.24 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£150.96 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card (£349.00 @ Amazon UK)
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (Black) ATX Full Tower Case (£198.24 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair 860W 80 PLUS Platinum Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (Purchased For £163.92)
Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer (Purchased For £44.00)
Total: £1528.26

For £53.33, you're getting more processing power and better future proofing.

Chino really like your selection - but for me the 4670K is better value for money in my view and means the spend is lower than the original estimate. 🙂

At the moment haswell is running away with the ball, it's hard to argue the point.

I just hope Asus don't start spray'n the CrossHairs blue just yet. c.
