I fixed the driver install issue by grabbing an older version of the driver:
    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mis...istaWin7_8.zip
this was for a crappy H81M-K board of which i purchased 2.....1 of them installed the driver fine (v14.47.2.348) and the other wouldnt!
the 2nd board however took the above downloaded driver (v12.14.17.909) fine
it still wouldnt update to the newer driver after the older version installed....go figure :/
    hope this helps you

    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the link for the AMDA00 drivers!
Pretty sad that Asus forgot to include them on the disk...

    Hello

The AMDA00 driver is on the motherboard disks. I would suggest reading the thread instead of glancing at the last post of the thread.

Thumbs up I can't believe Asus & Rog

I can't believe how Asus has missed this great little detail, I have exactly the same problem in my MOBO Asus Hero VI. I was about to format my Windows 8 but before doing so i decided to investigate and i find myself with all this, the solution is to disable AMDA00 interface in device manager until the people of Asus & Rog is well represented to solve the problem that exists with the driver, even he could not believe.

Thanks for the link Mr.Fix, I been searching for a solution to the "unknown device" in my System devices for a few days now and happened across your post. The latest (AMDA00 - 2014/01/06) drivers timeout, hope ASUS come out with an update. The drivers on the mobo cd (AMDA00 v14.47.2.348) didn't work with the latest bios 1603 for my maximus vi hero either. I'd rather have old drivers than unknown device.

    Device Manager - Unknown Device

    AMDA00 - Timed Out
