Asus G55 audio subwoofer problem

Hello,

I have an Asus G55vw laptop with the VIA audio driver 6.0.1.10400.
Everything is perfect, except for one thing:
From time to time (everytime on my music) the subwoofer goes off, the only way I can keep it working is to open VIA control panel in expert mode and click on the little speaker in between (the subwoofer test sound)

Has anyone got any ideea why the subwoofer goes off ?

I suggest you install the latest drivers on the Asus download page for you model. The 400 series drivers had problems, I think from 6.0.1.10600 and up have most of the Bass Speaker fixed. Check out this thread on adjusting your equalizer or this one workaround the subwoofer. If these threads don't solve your problem you may have a hardware problem. The VIA Driver 600 and above do not call it Sub Woofer. Its now called only a Bass Speaker. Your particular problem I have not seen before but still I would try the later updated drivers I personal haven't seen much difference in the drivers since the 600 they all solve most of the problem with the Bass speaker. None of them actually make it a LFE speaker. I myself just loaded the 6.0.10.1400 and to me it hasn't changed much since the 600 drivers. It's listed in the VIA HD Deck as a Bass Speaker, you still have to adjust it manually, It will not adjust with the volume controls in sync with the left and right speakers!

I tried in the past all verions of the VIA, I found the 400 one best because the LFE (bass speaker) is in sync with the volume and becaue when I plug my headphones in, laptop speakers stop. (whereas with 600, even with headphones pluged, laptop speakers would still make sound)
Btw. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I checked the Asus drivers again just in case, I only see 2 verions of the VIA HD audio, 400 and 600, and I really don't look forward on installing the 600 because as I said, when I plug headphones in, laptop speakers still make sound.

I can't really speak for the G55, for me G75 and most others the 600and Beyond fixed that problem of the Bass Speaker staying connected with head phones or external speakers plugged in. you might try some of the later versions Beyond, the 900 were good, I'm on the 1400 now. search the forum for VIA drivers there are links to these later versions.

Here's is a link to the 1200 drives http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?27047-VIA-Audio-Driver-v6.0.10.1200-for-G75VW-G55VW-for-Win...

I searched on 6.0.10.1200 it brings up several links to the drivers they progress in 200 I think 200, 400, 600 etc.
