Configuring the multimedia keys on arrow keys.

I'm wondering if there's an option somewhere to configure the multimedia keys on the arrow keypad (play/pause, stop, skip back, skip forward)? These keys are activated when pressing Fn + an arrow key.

I think I was able to control platform music player until I updated ATK package. After the update the multimedia keys launch AsusDVD and control it.

So, is there any way to configure this thing? What I would really like to do is to map Fn + arrow key to home/end/pgdn/pgup. However, I'm happy just to stop AsusDVD from launching whenever I want to pause music.

i'm triyng to do this for the app music, but don't work. i'd like to use them with this app, specially when i've got another program (eg. for work) opened. Now i'm using the trick "volume up + mouse for click forward or backward" but if the keyboard has hotkey and the notebook come with Windows 8, they MUST work.

I managed to solve this issue by compiling source code found here: https://gist.github.com/4105624/download#

1. Download mingw from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files/latest/download?source=files
2. Start MinGW shell and navigate to wherever you untarred the sources (or used 7zip to extract)
3. Compile the sources by typing following: gcc -mwindows -Wall -march=native -O2 -s ATKMediaInterceptor.c -o DMedia.exe
4. Replace C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATK Media\DMedia.exe with the output from gcc

You can also test that the program works by simply launching it and pressing the media key combos.

EDIT: Note that you need to first manually open a music player and start playing music in order for this to work.

Hey MikeV,

Sorry to be a noob but can you elaborate steps 2, 3, 4.

I executed guimain.exe and a MinGW Installation Manager window opened. Is this where I can compile the code from? If so, I can't figure out how to navigate to where I extracted the sources and begin compiling.

i think it is not possible to use sw to change asus function key.

There's an utility called "Asus notebook keys". However, I haven't mustered the courage to install it.

You can take a look at it here:

Visual Studio savvy might even be able to update it to work with current ATK package.

I noticed that doing this will disable the calculator shortcut on the numpad. Everything else should work.
