Does the G750 have GPU throttling issue like the Alienware 17?

Title pretty much asks everything I wanted to know from current owners of the G750. Does the GPU throttle at a certain temperature like Alienware 17 owners are claiming? I'm thinking because the G750 doesn't use Optimus, that it won't have that issue. It seems Optimus is not "Optimized".

i have not seen throttling on mine but i also upgraded my thermal paste so i really don't know

Draetor24, I haven't seen thermal throttling at all, but under battery operation the laptop limits speed to 800mhz - and in that mode the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility shows 100% throttling - which is likely how they are throttling the clock to 800mhz.

Battery throttling is a given - that's part of the territory of gaming notebooks. As to thermal throttling, I would tend to suspect not, considering that the ASUS systems have really good cooling systems, and so do not tend to overheat. Optimus does not play into the throttling, though Optimus can negatively affect performance.

First of all, you can't game of do high performance tasks like rendering while not on AC power, the VGA requires power, so I don't consider that throttling. However, I have seen the GPU core clock throttle to 450 Mhz and stay like only after an unstable overclock. The core returns to normal after a restart is made. Otherwise, the GPU is always maxed out even at 95 degrees C.

Normally throttling occurs at ~100 C, since that is getting close to the thermal limit of 110 C.
