Yes, the Formula supports 2 NVidia cards in SLI or 3 AMD cards in Crossfire.

Question on the two CPU fan headers...... are the controlled singly or independently ?

In other words, I'd like to:

Have CPU-1 profile control Radiator fans ONLY (10 PH-F140SP 140mm) via Enthoo Fan PCB controller
Have CPU-2 profile control Pump speeds ONLY (Swiftech 35x2 or Aquastream XT USB x 2 )

Or are the two CPU headers working of a single fan profile with the extra header provided simply to eliminate a splitter cable for air coolers w/ 2 fans like the Phanteks PH-TC14-PE ?

They are not controllable independently directly either in the BIOS or via Fan Xpert 2. What I do notice is that although I have two identical fans running from the two headers, they do not spin at the same rate. The CPU_OPT fan spins about 20% slower for some reason. But both spin faster as temps increase.

You may just decide to give up one of the programmable chassis fans to do what you want.

Wow, the two fans spin at different speeds ? that seems odd

The chassis fans respond to changes in CPU temp or other thermal sensors ?

I found that odd as well - didn't actually take note of it until I started looking to answer your question. Either the amount of current put out between the two headers is different or one of my fans spins 20% slower at the same amount of current as the other.

Yes the 3 main chassis fans are all independently programmable in Fan Xpert 2 and in the BIOS.

In response to what ? I realize you can set profiles in response to temps..... but what temps ?

Just remember that if ya stick anything in the 3rd PCI-E slot, ya lose SLI (3rd slot filled gives ya PCI-E 8 x 4 x 4 which works for CF but not SLI.

In the BIOS for the CPU and Chassis fans you can choose from one of three preset profiles or a manual profile where you set upper and lower temp and duty cycle pairs and I assume there is linear scaling in between.

In the BIOS for the optional fans, you can choose from 1) Duty Mode where you just set the duty cycle as a percentage, 2) Profile Mode where you pick one of three preset profiles or 3) Manual Mode where you set a low speed temp and a full speed temp

If you decide to use AISuite III for fan control, you can choose Smart Mode or RPM mode. In RPM mode you set the speed at which you want the fan to run at less than 75 degC; above that the fan runs full speed. In smart mode there are three editable temp/duty cycle pairs giving you fairly flexible control.
