Goal: 4.6ghz+ stable

Please look over my BIOS settings. If there is anything else to adjust please let me know. After going through 3+ CPU's I'm beginning to wonder if my BIOS settings are incorrect or a defective motherboard. I understand each chip different but cmon!

Asus Hero Latest Bios 0711
Ram: G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB F3-2400C10D-8GTX 10-12-12-31 @ 1.65v

L312B332 - 44x @ 1.325v stable (not stable @ 45 1.375v) (was delid, hence the higher voltages) 😞

Ure unstable ram n wrong vccin is the cause.? Ure overvolting n forcing it to enter.

Learn about ure cpu first before clocking the ram. Do the above step at 1600 first.

Have u even got ure ram working at default cpu 3.9ghz with vcssa/digital&analogue i/o at auto??

cstkl1thanks for the response. My settings above I had the Memory Frequency set to 1600. Anywho, I looked over your post and I restored the bios to optimal defaults and did the following:

Set all cores at 42 (left the uncore at auto, presume this is on 39). Change the CPU core voltage to 1.1v and disable cpu spectrum. Windows BSOD upon loading into the OS. I raised the voltage to 1.15v and ran runme_xeon64. runme_xeon64 lasted about 10 minutes and then BSOD again. I raised the vcore to 1.175 and I'm continue to test. Temps are well with in range (under 85c) and if this is a good chip I can delid.

Dude ure proc is 1.15v/1.2v. Dont waste time on inbetween. Worst case ure +-0.025v which u can optimize at the end.Linpac is hard even if there was a 0.025v less it would have restarted etc . Just need some optimization. Keep the vcore voltages to a increment of 0.05v starting from 1.1v for now.

try setting this
disable SVID support
keep initial at 1.7v but eventual at 1.65v ( u can go lower down to 1.6v) but just make sure its 0.4v more than vcore.
Set in digi power settting all extreme and cpu at 140% and Ram 130% ( To make the board give all out consistent power ) Loadline Level 8.
In tweakers reduce PLL Termination from auto ( default 1.2v ) to 1v.

BTW did u change the lininput_xeon64

Sample Intel(R) Optimized LINPACK Benchmark data file (lininput_xeon64)
Intel(R) Optimized LINPACK Benchmark data
1 # number of tests
20000 # problem sizes
20000 # leading dimensions
5 # times to run a test
4 # alignment values (in KBytes)

Since ure using 8gb. This should max out around 6-7gb. If u want to find the optimal run linx and press max mem. Use that Problem size written there and reedit.

Will help u all the way through since this might help alot of ppl. right to ure 2400mhz settings and rtls and twcl. BTW edit ure first post and post a screenshot of ure ram SPD. Either do a screenshot in the bios or use aida under motherboard/SPD. Ure going to need this. Also helpful is if u can find out ure Mem whether its a hynix cfr/mfr or samsung

Also have in handy some memtest86 usb. Think the latest is version 5.0 beta etc.

Btw stable overclocking tip. Its being stubborn about ure cpu vcore, dram voltage and test everything out on other voltages to maintain scaling. This is a must mindset.

cstkl1 -

Thanks for the tip on 1.15v/1.20v.

Yesterday I had liniput_xeon64 using the configuration you suggestion on the other forum. I believe that was for 16GB ram. I was wondering why it was taking hours.

Anyways 1.15v crashed using the old settings. I ran Memtest86 for 50 minutes and it said it passed 1 time. Figured the ram was stable on the default settings.

Took your input from todays post:

Changed from Optimal Settings:

CPU Spread Spectrum: from Auto to Disable
SVID Control: Changed: from Auto to Disable
Initial CPU Input Voltage: from Auto to 1.7v
Eventual CPU Input Voltage: Auto to 1.65v
Digi+ Power Control -

CPU Load-line Calibration: Auto to Level 8
CPU Power Phase Control: Auto to Extreme
CPU Power Thermal Control: 130 to 140
DRAM Current Capability: 100% to 130%

I was a bit confused on the PLL Termination Setting since I have three options:

BCLK Tuning -

Initial PLL Termination Voltage:
PLL Termination Voltage:
Eventual PLL Termination Voltage:
I changed all three from Auto to 1.0v

Anyways, 1.15v was not stable. I adjusted to 1.20v and passed the test:

Ok looks like ures is 4.2@1.2v. Norm is uncore will work at 39 for 1.05v. Looks like ure proc maybe 1:1.

And btw thats the wrong screenshot. Ram spd is in tools/asus spd information.

BTW based on ure 42 at 1.2v u should be able to run linx at 1.25v and prime at 1.3v so technically scaling should be 45 at 1.35v. so no go on ure part for 46.

Ure almost there.

@hollywood: What temps are you seeing running those optimized linpack tests?

I'm afraid I'm not able to help you out, but as I'm in a similar situation as yourself I was curious (except I'm on a 4670k and just want a stable 4.3 - 4.4 without temps going TOO crazy during AVX/AVX2 tests). I'm following the advice you were given here and just started, starting with a mult of 40 at 1.1V just because I know that would pass. The temps were already maxing out at 84C with 4ghz / 1.1V however, which has me worried (cooler is a H80i).
