Using 2nd Hard Drive for a Different OS (CentOS6)

I've been trying all day but to no avail to get a second SSD Hybrid drive I installed in my G7x to boot separetly from the Windows 8 primary drive. When I check in the BIOS, the drive isn't even seen, however, if I boot all the way into windows and go into the partion management section, the drive can be seen but needs to be initialized.

Is there an reason why I second drive is not able to be bootable as well? I'm looking to install CentOS6 on the second drive to work on the RedHat Certified System Administrator cert...

Thanks...

if your laptop comes with stock w8, go to your bios and disable secureboot, enable launch csm and pxe boot rom, and disable fast boot.
