Does anybody else have this issue? its been happening ever since i bought this sound card a year ago.

Im trying to diagnose if its this card or my motherboard.

I have an

ASUS P8p67 Pro Revision 3.0 Lates bios and drivers for everything.
2600k CPU OC to 4.4 used with ASUS AI Auto OC (used to be 4.8 until this issues started so then i down clocked)
16 GB of DDR3 Corsair ram
EVGA GTX 680 SLI
Samsung 830 SSD/WD 1TB HD
Seasonic 860 Watt PSU

I have already done a memtest to see if its RAM, Its not.

Only does it when im playing BF3

I suspect your CPU isn't stable. BF3 is quite sensitive to a bad overclock. Try your CPU at stock speeds first.

Agreed. When you have issues, the first thing to do is return everything to stock. You can also look in event viewer and check what happened there to see what is causing the problem at hand. What are you testing with to see if you are 100% stable on the overclocking? does the problem just exist on the BF3 game and nothing else?

Make sure to use latest Phoebus drivers.
First drivers was a total fail in BF3 (Punkbuster refused to work with it).
Sometimes i`m kicked by Punkbuster with "Not allowed program or driver" message (even now, with latest drivers).
Also i have weird sound bug in BF3.And it bugs me to death.
With onboard sound it works just fine.

When i originally had to Overclock to 4.8, it was perfectly fine for about 2-3 months. Then all of a sudden this freezing started happening in BF3. I down clocked the CPU to a lower OC and it was fine for about a few weeks then i went to bone stock. Was fine then. I then used the ASUS OC AI to out overclock it to 4.4. Now its starting back up again.

Unless there have been new drivers within the past month. I am up to date with the Phoebus.

Remove all the Asus suite it is worthless and causes issues. You need to overclock in the bios. There isn't no telling how much voltage that crappy software is using to mildly overclock your cpu. Here is the app to uninstall it off your pc. Also cpus do tend to degrade after so long. Depending on how much voltage and heat output, it could have ill effects on it.

Thanks, Raja@ASUS

If you narrowed it down to BF3. Then it maybe just the game and the sound card helping the issue. Best thing is to try it on other games and see how it acts there. What drivers are you using on the Pheobus?

It could be your video driver from what you've posted above. If you're running your cards overclocked, disable that as well for testing. Nvidia drivers past 314.xx have become increasingly sensitive to OC. Crashes with them can be very bad as well, sometimes rendering your system not able to boot 😞

Yes, reinstall Nvidia driver.
Also disable all power saving options (hibernate too) in Windows.

So i headed over to the EVGA forums and told them whats going on. From what they said, because my GPUs are at different clocks, BF3 has issues when it comes to this and requires the Slower clock speed card be in the Primary PCI slot. This is only for 600 series or higher. I have changed them around and went back to the most stable driver and so far no issues. But its only been one day so we will see.
