How do I use QuickSync with a dedicated graphics card installed?

I'm thinking about getting the 4770K and ROG MVI Hero Combo.

This is troubling me. Asus boards don't come with Lucid Virtu MVP software anymore. So how do I get QuickSync to work without it?

I'm on Windows 8 Pro btw.

Cheers

Quicksync is Intel http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/quick-sync-video/quick-sync-video...

Or do you mean something else?

There's no other way? I thought there was some other trick because most manufacturers aren't shipping with a free Virtu MVP license anymore.

So basically all the MSI boards come with a $50 worth software that Asus and some others don't? What the hell!!! Why would Asus do something like that?

Man I'm so mad at Asus. I almost ordered the Hero. Now I'm rethinking.

If the software is a deal breaker then you go with where you can get the software bundled mate.

Good news. You don't need Lucid Virtue MVP after all.

Works like a charm in Handbrake nightly. You should add this to a sticky because I'm sure there are a lot of people who would switch from Asus to MSI or EVGA because they give free Virtu MVP License with their Z87 boards.

The general consensus is QS is still inferior in video quality compared to other encoding methods. I guess this really depends on the capability of the display being used though. Nice find never the less.

Sometimes I need to transcode movies for the iPhone or the tablet. And I don't know of this is in my head or not, but I tested a 1080p movie and the quality is identical to x86 when viewed from a movie watching distance. It took only 20minutes vs more than 2hrs for x86.

I would think a quality difference would be hard to spot on a screen that small so should not be an issue. I have not tested this myself just going by what others post. I have a video rental store so have access to both DVDs and Blu-rays. For the iPad I rip DVDs using Handbrake with AVX and depending on the movie takes between 12 and 15 minutes. I don't do any other transcoding. For home use I save the movies as is to the NAS.
