Second G75VX laptop hard drive for performance?

Does anyone think it really helps in any way to install a second HDD to a G75VX laptop? Not for the obvious capacity gain, but performance? Like having it dedicated to games? Does that really work? I would just be using a standard 2.5" 5400RPM, nothing crazy like SSDs or anything.

Yes if your not going to install a SSD you would be wasting your time and money, installing a 5400 RPM second hard drive. All you would get would be more storage space.

Installing a SSD and moving your OS and main programs will significantly increase your performance, Boot up time, program start up time. Anything that is hard drive intensive will see big performance Gains.

Thank you. I had been told it would help, but I knew better and wanted to get a second opinion.

I just recently purchased an ASUS G751JL and was wondering what steps I need to go through to install 2 SSD's in raid for overall performance and gaming?

You can't, G751jy has port 0 PCIe connection and SATA 3 6GB, Port 1 is SATA 2 3 GB so it wouldn't be practical. You posted in the wrong forum. For a more detailed information go to https://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?198-G751-G771-G551-and-GL552-Gaming-Notebooks.
