Fine then, does anyone have settings that are known to work?

I don't like looking at a pack of ram on my desk, would rather it be mounted, so can someone give me some known working parameters to make the following specs work?

CHV Formula 0506 Bios
1100T stock clock
Gskill Sniper 1600Mhz 4x4gb
HD6770

The CPU is cooled by a coolermaster V6GT and I have an antec CP-850 power supply with. Both the 8 pin and 4 pin EATX plugs on the board are jacked in, I haven't supplied power to the molex yet. So I have the power and cooling that I can handle a bit of OC if necessary.

I have tried Raja's ram setup guide but was still very unstable with all 4 sticks in, using just 2 sticks of the memory right now with moderate stability, mind you I haven't run any benchmarks or stability tests yet and haven't played anything but AIX BF2 on it so far. I plan to switch to an 8 core when the second generation is released, but if I can't get stability now, it will just end up being worse with the hungrier chip later on.

I think it can be narrowed down to just ram settings, all 4 sticks post perfectly, even when all mounted together, no DRAM led, no errors of any kind. Just incredibly unstable, resetting even when idling at desktop. When I had all 4 sticks mounted and opened CPU-Z, I got a memory voltage warning.

I am by no means an expert here, I bought parts based on advertised specs, thinking it should just work out of the box. I don't know anything about playing with voltage, or setting up ram whatsoever and I'm kind of afraid of burning money by cooking parts. So that is why I am asking for help.

Looks like you have the same problem as me :S I belive it has something to do with the CPU needing more voltage on the NB, As when i incresed it to 1.2 my pc was more stable but not 100% there.

yeah I got a tiny bit of stability when I followed Raja's guide, but still would crash without even doing anything that would tax resources. I went as high as 1.275 with even better results, but I'm afraid of playing with it too much without knowing anything about the thresholds that these parts can handle.

Same here it would be great to find information of max voltages.

I found this :
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/258573-11-black-edition-overclock-guide-raising-multiplier
Just going to finish reading this and hopefully be able to solve the problem.

Good read Julien2, thanks for that find.
If I recall.. I think mine was @ 1.38 for the 4.1g..
thats why I clocked it back down.. I read that steady
1.4 no good...so it made sense to me 1.38 not healthy
long term.. Its doing fine @ defaults, why tempt
the cpu eating demons....hahhaha..
Jay, is it stable @ 1333 with that ram, sorry if I missed that
if its here...?
Another test I like..is with a ton of opened, varied programs..
3-4gb's....how does it wake...all that has to sit in the ram..sooo..
I know...lets get past boot first trigger...hahahha...Best of Luck..all.c.

Well I'm now hearing that when the AM3+ cpus actually come into existence, the advertised specs of the board will come true. I only wish I'd known that prior to purchasing all of this ram, I would have only bought 8gb rather than 16. So I think I can be content with 8GB for the time being and then bump up to more when I get my hands on a bulldozer.

Note to Asus: change posted specs from DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 to DDR3 2133(O.C. AM3+)/2000(O.C. AM3+)/1800(O.C. AM3+)/1600(AM3+)/1600(O.C. AM3)/1333(AM3)/1066(AM3)

Or it could be shown like this
AM3+ Memory capability: DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066
AM3 Memory capability: DDR3 1600(O.C.)/1333/1066

Gskill did not test the RAM you have with the CHV, so the specs my not work looking at other vendors with DDR31600 16gb kits the ram timings are set to 9-9-9-24 2T and either 1.5 or 1.65 volts depending on the model.

Did you buy two 8gb kits or 1 16gb kit?

Unfortunately it is known that it is better to get 1 4x4GB package then 2 2x4GB packages, even though your chances were good. I wish i knew the right settings for you, however i do not at this time. Normally from the QVL i would recommend the Corsair CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9(XMP) 4x4GB package, however i have read from EVIL_CONSERVATIVE that there are issues with this known QVL. I'm sure Raja and other ASUSROG Team Members are currently your best shot at fixing this issue.
