    Hi Guys,

Cheers for all the advice, managed to get it running at 4.5GHz without much trouble. It is running fairly hot under load but i'm pretty sure my cooling is up to it, I'm using the Intel liquid cooling solution by Asetek. This overclock alone has really improved performance in games, I certainly don't get as much lag in FarCry now. Still, after hearing everyone's praise for SLi I think I'm going to go for it anyway as I can pick up a 2nd GTX670 quite cheap now. I'll post some before and afters when I've got it all installed to give everyone some idea of the performance gains.

    Cheers Everyone.

It is still advisable I think to go for the strongest single card solution if you have no GPU...but this is becoming less and less of a golden rule.

If you already have a 670 and don't want to spend large amounts then SLI definitely...

...it is only a pain sometimes if you want to run the latest game the day it comes out before drivers and SLI profiles are really mature. If you give a game a couple of months breathing room before you play it you get none of these problems. And SLI is getting better and better...these days the drivers can even cope with different cards boosting to different levels so even cards that are maybe not as strong as their partner will not drag overall performance down so much; since the stronger card can be run as the principal card (first slot) and run higher on boost than a weaker one you SLI with it without stuttering etc.

    Hi Guys,

So I've now got two GTX670's in SLI and I'm delighted with the results. I'm now running with my CPU at 4.4GHz, GPU's at 1100MHz and graphics memory at 6200MHz. So here are the before and afters:

Single card (Average FPS with all setting on max @ 1680x1050):
    FarCry 3: 28FPS
Heaven Benchmark: 37.3 (Score of 939)

SLI (Average FPS with all setting on max @ 1680x1050):
    FarCry 3: 63FPS
    Heaven Benchmark: 97.9 (Score 2465)

I've not bothered to benchmark anything else properly but there has been a marked improvement in a fair few games, particularly with BioShock Infinite and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. A really good result, thanks to everyone for your advice and to anyone reading this who is in my situation I would certainly recommend SLI. Was much easier than having to sell my old card and buy something which would have ended up being more expensive.
